When buying shelves to use to organize your scrapbooking and poems, think white and pre-cut. Many people prefer white since they usually match just about anything but they also come in a wood stain or even plain. Personally I would go with the pre-colored or pre-stained so that you can start to put them up as soon as you get home. The plain color allows you to stain with your own color. Some Tips For Building A Home Scrapbooking Room

If you are considering building a home scrapbooking room, you must be very serious about your hobby. And it is no wonder, since this craft is relaxing, creative, and a way to save precious family photos and mementos. It is fast becoming one of the more popular hobbies in the world, and many people are also building a home scrapbooking room for themselves. So how can you go about doing this?

First, when talking about building a home scrapbooking room, chances are you don't really mean building a new room on your house. This is a lot of expense and trouble to go through just for a hobby. Although if those are your plans, there is nothing wrong with that! If you are in the construction industry or can afford to hire someone to do this renovation for you, then who are we to stop you? But most of us, when you think of building a home scrapbooking room you really mean converting and redecorating a room you already have, such as an empty bedroom or den, or even a corner of the basement. How can you go about doing this without breaking the bank, and what do you need to remember?

Keep in mind that you need a place with adequate light in order to do your page layouts properly. Most scrappers need to work with very small elements and so adequate light is necessary. Whether you are building a home scrapbooking room from nothing or converting another room, be sure that if there is not enough natural light that you have plenty of places for bright lamps. You also need adequate space to work, so room for a nice sized desk is also necessary. Serious scrappers know how hard it is to work when you are cramped or when your materials are all stacked on top of each other.

And speaking of materials, when building a home scrapbooking room you need to have space for all your items and whatever methods of organizing you are using. You might need to invest in a desktop organizer or some other items, but having adequate space for boxes, bins, envelopes, and things like these is crucial. Having your papers get crumpled and the smaller items get lost is only going to detract from your hobby.

The decorations in your room should reflect your craft style and your personality. Consider selecting a color scheme using your favorite colors to scrapbook. Make sure you plan for storing your scrapbooking supplies, and make sure the containers that will be on display are attractive as well. Since scrapbooking is all about preserving photos and memories, don't forget to have plenty of photos on the walls. Another fun idea is to buy 12x12 shadow box frames and display your favorite pages in them.

Whatever you do by way of building a home scrapbooking room, be sure that you actually enjoy working in that space. If you are serious enough about your hobby to devote a room in your house to it, you must plan to spend a lot of time there. You may even want to place another workspace so you can invite a friend to scrapbook with you. A room of your own to create scrapbooking pages is an investment that will bring you many years of enjoyment.

Developing Your Digital Camera Photos

After you get done taking pictures with your digital camera the next step is deciding what you want to do with all of your pictures. You probably will want to transfer them to your computer hard drive first and go from there. Depending on the type of camera you have, you will either remove the video card and place it in the reader, or you will plug your camera directly into your computer's Firewire or USB port.

Many digital cameras come with software to help you manage your pictures. Usually the program will show you mini versions of your pictures, so you can go through your collection and get them ready for printing out into full color pictures with your photo software. Many photo programs also let you make corrections to any of your images, like removing that demonic-looking red eye. Or, you can use other types of software, like Adobe Photoshop, to completely alter the appearance of your pictures. There are loads of options for sharing and showing off your pictures. You can print them out on photo quality paper and create beautiful photographs, upload them to an image sharing site, e-mail them, etc. The possibilities are nearly endless.

With today's technological advances in digital photography one can easily print high quality pictures at home on a photo printer, or you can send them to a digital photo printing service. Either option has it's good points and not so good points. If you decide to buy your own photo printer, you will be able to print your pictures very nearly as soon as you take them; And a lot of the new printers are portable so you can take it with you on vacation and print out your photos as you like. The down side is that even with the initial cost of the printer out of the way, replacement supplies of ink and paper can add up really quickly. Usually, this is an expensive way to print your photos, and unless money is not an issue, it can really break a budget.

Most of the time, having a professional digital photo printing service is the more economical way to go. You can make the basic standard-sized prints for pennies on the dollar and get the large prints for just a few bucks.

There are many places online where you can sign up for a free account, and upload the photos you want to print, and then place your order. Many department stores have an in-store kiosk where you can take a CD or your digital camera and place your order there and have them printed out right at the kiosk.

Using a professional digital photo printing service is more often the cheaper route. Much more inexpensive than buying your own printer, ink and paper replacements, and your prints will more likely be of a better quality. However, uploading the pictures you want to have printed will take time because you will have to send full-sized, high-resolution pictures. And it will take a few days for your prints to come in too.

If you'd rather share your photos in an online gallery there are lots of sites to choose from. You can start an account on an image-sharing site like Snapfish or Flickr. A lot of these sites offer free services, but some do limit the amount of pictures you can upload each month or the amount of disc space you can use. Some even offer the digital photo printing service for a small fee.

Celtic Knot Cross Stitch & Samplers

Celtic knots are synonymous for their distinguished intricacy and minute details. Finding the celtic knot pattern that you like the most is easy as there are ones that are simple and easy to create while other's can be with slightly finer details. What makes Celtic knots so famous, graceful looking and revered is because the designs are geometrical in pattern with endless soft curves.

For newbies being introduced to this art it may not be such a passion yet but for craftsmen it’s a art form close to their heart, a life time obsession. For starters Celtic knot can take while to get used to, as following the pattern needs care to create the knot beautifully.

That should not deter you to try one today itself. Let us try and learn one knot style that is simple to do. This will encourage you to learn the art and start working yourself and get to feel the lovely patterns that exist.

* The first step is to get a tracing sheet; it shall you with the design patterns. Take a trace sheet and a pointed tip pen. Make a few prominent dots to identify the pattern with one being a normal dot and other being darker.

Draw the entire sheet with an outline. Make a similar line but in the opposite direction. The final sheet should resemble a paper covered with plain dots surrounded by highlighted ones in all four corners and vise-a-versa. If all this looks tedious to start with then graph sheets are available to help get you started.

* Start with marking a portion of the sheet with 5 large dots & 4 tiny ones across. Make the same marks at the end (5 large & 4 small dots) of the sheet so we have a square. Each of the tiny dots will act as the point of intercepting where the two 'ropes’ of our knot shall leap over each other. Place a two lined 'x' right over a dot on the sheet. The appearance should be one like of a tipped over tic-tac-toe board.

* Next just keep on drawing the "X" placing every tiny dot up to the border. The "X" mark should not be placed on the tiny dots that you see on your borderline, only mark the dots that are within the border. Also take care the large dots remain unmarked.

The aim is to cover the area of the tiny dots on the tracing sheet. Clearly speaking the bigger the pattern you want bigger the sheet required. You can also make a choose of the thread widths; before you draw the line decide on a thick or thin pattern.

* Once we have each and every one the small dots crisscrossed we shall now merge the knot lines with the sides, top & bottom within the borderline. Find the place where two lines branch away from the design of the knot, slanting into one and another.

Create a binary line curve to join them. The sharpness may vary to suit the kind of design you’d like to create, anywhere from and 90 or 45-degree slant to a slightly less curves and round too. Here you can fulfill your imaginations on the type of curve you would like.

The design you just learnt here was an easy knot design. Surely by now you have built some inclination so go get yourself a Celtic cross stitch knot kit. The kit shall help you make a count of boxes and also help you make knots.

How To Have A Memorable Father-Daughter Dance

The only wedding dance that's more touching and emotional than the happy couple's first dance, is the Father-Daughter Dance. It's an emotional moment that encompasses so much history and so many memories for the father as well as the daughter. A father has just given his daughter away. A daughter has found her prince charming and is beginning a whole new life. Just thinking about it can bring tears to your eyes.

In generations past, when a daughter getting married often meant that she would be moving far away, the Father-Daughter Dance was often the last time a father and daughter had to share a special few moments between them. Even now, with ease of travel and modern communication technology, this dance can be a cherished and bittersweet moment. Whether she's moving across the country or just across town, this dance represents the end of an era for both of them.

As much as your father is happy for you and your new husband and looking forward to this dance for just the two of you, he's also probably a bit nervous about it. He may not have danced in years, he may be worried about stepping on your toes, or he may be worried that the song you chose will be the last straw on an emotional day and he's going to end up crying. Then you'll end up crying, and that is the last thing he wants.

To keep your dad from being even more of a nervous wreck on your wedding day than he will already be, why not bring him in for some special father-daughter dance lessons? By taking some lessons together, your dad can brush up on some rusty dancing skills. The last time he danced may have been at his own wedding, but it probably won't be long before he gets his confidence back. By practicing with the song you've chosen for the Father-Daughter Dance at your wedding, you will both also get a lot of practice hearing it, and can avoid crying quite so much at the actual wedding.

You and your dad will also have a great opportunity to have some fun and share some relaxed time together before your wedding. You both have probably been talking a lot about the wedding over the last few months – the flowers, the cake, the food and the music, but you probably haven't had much chance at all to really talk with each other with all that needs to be done. Going to a few dance lessons, maybe stopping for coffee afterward. It may be just what the two of you need.

When the day of your wedding arrives, you and your father will be able to dance together in such an easy and natural way. You'll each know which step comes next and which part of the song makes you both tear up. You'll be able to relax and enjoy yourselves. It will be a truly touching and memorable moment for both of you, and for all of your friends and family who are looking on.

Learning to dance is the same as learning any new skill. It takes patience and practice. Unlike other skills though, dancing is fun at every stage. Beginners in my lessons start having fun right away. Learn to dance here.

Foot Tattoos Getting Inked With Discretion

Tattoos are the new ‘must have’ – everyone wants them and you are definitely not cool if you don’t have at least one. Trouble is not everyone wants to be obvious about it and so you have to be careful about placement. One way round it is to go for a foot tattoo. Tattoos for women are notoriously difficult to place appropriately bearing in mind the problems associated with skin stretching during pregnancy (and ageing) and the unfortunate social stigma of lower back tattoos leaves little choice. Foot tattoos are generally regarded as being cute, sexy and discreet. There was a reluctance among Tattoo Artists to work on feet because of potential pain and fading problems but modern techniques have alleviated both of these problems.

Foot tattoos are less showy than those in other areas which is important for those who don’t want to be too obvious about their body art. Foot tattoos are perfect to show off when you want to, and cover when you need to. They are less common than those on other parts of the body though that is changing as they are particularly popular with career orientated women who seem to prefer them as they don’t compromise their professional status but still keep up with the social trends outside the workplace. Another large factor is that a skilfully designed tattoo on the foot looks good with modern shoe designs – especially open toes and strappy sandals. Men do have foot tattoos but not as often as women, mainly because so many areas of the male body are easier to work on.

Design is important when choosing any tattoo as you will be living with it forever, you should be sure that it means something to you and you must consider how you feel about it being on public view! Foot Tattoos are ideal for small or flowing designs and you should always get guidance from the Artist who will be doing it for you. Most designs can be reduced in size if necessary and you can be sure that a good artist will only want to do a tattoo that will look good on you and reflect well on them. If you want a personal design you may have to pay a small deposit to cover the design time but you will end up with something that is unique and special.

Foot Tattoos are generally a little more painful than those on more fleshy areas of the body, for this reason some Artists are still reluctant to do them. There is little flesh over the bones in the foot so any work done on that part of the foot is likely to cause discomfort, especially if you have sensitive feet. Because blood vessels are closer to the surface they can also bleed a little more but a good artist using good equipment will minimise this.

You must be prepared to take extra care of a foot tattoo, both during the healing period and in general. They are more prone to infection which is another reason why some Artists are occasionally unwilling to do them. Your new tattoo needs to be kept clean, dry and free from any irritation whilst it heals. This means that shoes, stockings or socks are to be avoided if at all possible for at least one, and preferably two weeks after the tattoo has been done. This will give time for any swelling to go down and stop rubbing on your new artwork which would blur it or worse still, partially rub it out. If you have any pain or signs of infection in a new foot tattoo get in touch with your Doctor without delay. Even when a foot tattoo has healed well it still tends to get rubbed more by shoes and may fade more quickly that other areas. You should always use a good moisturiser and even then it may need to re-coloured. Sun block is just as important for foot tattoos as it is for those on other parts of the body.

Tattoos are far more of a fashion item now and are accepted as an art form in their own right rather than a social ’badge’. Foot tattoos are more and more becoming the choice of someone who wants a tattoo that is both different and discreet.

Choosing A Song For Your Wedding Dance

You've picked out your dress, decided on the food for the reception, ordered the flowers, and even extracted promises for good behavior from feuding relatives. Now you're faced with the task that you've been putting off for months. Choosing the song for your first dance at your wedding.

If you're like a lot of couples, choosing the song for your first dance may be a lot harder than you ever thought. You and your fiancé may have completely different tastes in music, or maybe every song one of you likes the other hates and now you don't know what to do. If your difficulty in choosing a song has gotten around the rumor mill, you've probably also had family and friends constantly suggesting songs to you until you just don't want to hear about it anymore. But the DJ keeps calling and you know you can't put it off much longer. So let's get started.

The first thing you and your fiancé should do is work separately. Each of you should make a list of 20 first dance songs that you like. You can easily find many lists of wedding first dance songs by doing a web search. Many of these websites also have short sound clips to jog your memory if you don't remember the song. Don't be surprised if songs you had completely forgotten about will catch your ear.

When you come together to compare your lists, start by making an "X" next to the songs that the other doesn't like, an "O" next the to the songs that the other is open to, and a star next to the ones that the other does like. Even if you and your fiancé have had a difficult time choosing a song, with each of you having a list of your own to start with, you may be surprised that you have a few songs that you both like. If so, it will be easy to pick a song at this point.

If you have no starred songs on your lists, you'll have to take it to the next level. First, you both need to get in the mindset of compromise. You should each make a new list with just the songs that the other is open to. Then exchange lists. Number your fiance's song list in order of your preference, #1 being the song you dislike the least, and on up. Don't rush through this. It may take you both a day or so to do this. Once you have your lists numbered, take the top two from each list and choose a song from those four.

There is also a much more direct, and fun, way to choose the song for your first dance, if you're up for it. The Contest. Winner takes all. That means the winner gets to pick whatever song they want. Oh yes. This is serious. You'll need to pick a contest – It can be anything from Rock, Paper, Scissors to Scrabble to a Tennis match. Be sure to bring your "A" Game. You know you can win this.

Learning to dance is the same as learning any new skill. It takes patience and practice. Unlike other skills though, dancing is fun at every stage. Beginners in my lessons start having fun right away. Learn to dance here.

Do Something Different For Your First Dance

The first dance at a wedding has traditionally been a slow dance, usually a waltz or something similar. But what if you and your fiancé aren't the waltz type? What if you want something more fun and energetic? You've probably thought about this quite a bit and are wondering if it would be too odd to do something different. Would it be better to just go ahead and do a waltz and forget about it?

Absolutely not. If you want to do something different for your first dance, then you should. Your family and friends know you, and they love you. They want to see you dance in a style that reflects your love for each other, to a song that you love. Odd would be watching a lively, energetic couple waltzing their way through a song they don't like very much just to get to the rest of the music and have some real fun.

If you come out and do a Cha Cha for your first dance, on the other hand, not only will the whole room cheer, but it will be a first dance that nobody, especially you and your new spouse, will ever forget. You'll have a fantastic time doing it and your friends and family will be absolutely entranced.

Nearly any style of dance can be customized to fit into your wedding. If you want to do a classic dance, a Foxtrot or Quickstep can be adjusted so that your dress doesn't get in the way. If you want to perform a dance that's more passionate, but aren't sure if it's appropriate for your wedding, that's nothing to worry about. Even a passionate dance such as a Tango or a Rumba can be toned down a bit if you like.

When you and your fiancé come in for your wedding dance lessons, remember that this dance is being customized just for you. If there is a step you are having difficulty with, we can work on it until you've got it or we can change things a bit to make it easier. If there is something that you don't like or aren't comfortable with in the original choreography, that can be modified as well.

If you would like to do a different style of dance for your wedding dance, but want your family to join you as well, consider choosing two songs for your first dance. You and your new spouse can perform your first dance on your own during the first song, then the DJ can invite your friends and family to join you on the dance floor for a more traditional dance style when the second song begins.

When you're at your wedding, remember that more than anything your family and friends are there to celebrate with you. They want to see you and your new spouse enjoy yourselves and have a wonderful time on your special day. Nothing could be more lovely and more memorable than sharing a bit of your hearts with the people you love by performing a dance that truly reflects the love you feel for each other.

Learning to dance is the same as learning any new skill. It takes patience and practice. Unlike other skills though, dancing is fun at every stage. Beginners in my lessons start having fun right away. Learn to dance here.

Free Scrapbooking Ideas

Take memories that are precious to you. Add some scraps, some mementos or photos. Frame these collections with borders, stickers etc., add some decent journaling and you have the creative hobby of scrapbooking. Scrapbooking allows you to revisit those memories any time you want.

If you are new to the art of scrapbooking, then you should start out with simple scrapbooks. Projects such as birthday albums of kids or any simple easy project is what beginner scrapbookers should start out with. Doing it this way takes the confusion and complication out of it.

With the popularity of scrapbooking, there are many websites that cater to it. On those websites, one can get many free scrapbook ideas. When you start your project, you may have a number of ideas or thoughts about how you will set it up. With the vast number of different possibilities of themes and layouts, it is a good idea to write down your ideas and then go online to either add to them, investigate other ideas or just look for some complementary items. You must always keep the focus on the original subject. Everything flows from that subject.

With the internet saturation of society, there is no reason to be confused about the subject or ideas for your scrapbook. There are virtually unlimited ideas about scrapbooking in general. Free services include laser cuts and printing of pages. These ideas and services are easily obtainable and the best part is that they are all free.

Another good source for free scrapbooking ideas is newsletters. Most scrapbooking website offer them just for you subscribing to their list. They will supply content to help you get your ideas going. Every newsletter offers something new to think about. Make a directory on your computer and store these newsletters for future references. I like to have a notepad screen available to jot down new ideas.

Getting your kids into scrapbooking is much easier with all the free items available both online and offline. Newsletters will expand their idea base. These ideas will enhance the child’s imagination to decorate their scrapbooks. Remember to keep the project compact and simple. The worst thing you can do is to overload their minds with too many ideas. If you do it right, you will create a life-long love of scrapbooking for the child. With all the free templates and ideas, children can finish their projects easily and cheaply.

You can look at your project many different ways. With all the free scrapbooking ideas available, you can see your projects in lots of forms. An example of a good idea is when you are involved in a scrapbook project, sometimes you can’t use all the photos. Collect the photos not used and save them for a new project. For instance, suppose you were making a scrapbook about your child’s first birthday. At some point you decide that the scrapbook is finished and that adding more photos would make it look cluttered. Take the extra scraps photos and save them for a new project. Perhaps you can make a scrapbook that is a representation of the alphabet. You could use photos of the cake for C. Mix them in with photos of cars or anything that starts with C. Scrapbook subjects are as numerous and varied as anything. They needn’t be about people or events, although that is what is most common.

Been there, done that, scrapped a page about it.
